Artist Statement
I believe theatre gives us something increasingly rare: the opportunity to step outside of everyday life.
For a few hours, we leave behind deadlines, headlines, responsibilities, and distractions. We enter a different world—one filled with wonder, adventure, laughter, heartbreak, and possibility. Whether it’s a fairy tale, a musical, or a new story being told for the first time, theatre reminds us what it means to be human.
Who Am I?
I'm Kevin Nash, an award-winning lighting designer + technical director based in Seattle, Washington. I create theatrical and live event experiences throughout the Pacific Northwest, collaborating with directors, producers, educators, and organizations to bring stories to life through light.
My work is intentional by design. Every cue, color, angle, and transition serves a purpose. I believe the best lighting doesn't call attention to itself—it supports the story, shapes emotion, and helps transport audiences into another world.
Beyond design, I'm passionate about education and mentorship. Some of my most meaningful work happens alongside students and emerging artists, helping them develop their craft and discover what's possible through live performance. The future of our industry depends on creating opportunities for the next generation, and I'm proud to play a small part in that journey.
Whether I'm lighting a musical, a new play, or a community production, my goal remains the same: create memorable experiences that bring people together and remind us why live theatre matters.
